Emerald Tree Boa

  • Found in the rainforests of northern South America
  • They are solitary and they spend their life among the branches of trees, only descending to the ground to move between them
  • Emerald Tree Boas are very similar to the green tree python. They are bright green in color with a yellow colored underside. Emerald Tree Boas have an irregular white zigzag stripe along their back while green tree pythons have white spots along their back
  • Have strong prehensile tails which allow them to move around the branches of trees
  • The young snakes are brick-red, orange, bright red or yellow in color and they change to their characteristic green after a year
  • Have a life expectancy of approximately 20 years
