Has it been hard to stick through school so long to become a herpetologist? From what i understand it can take up to 12 years, and as fascinating as the study would be (and how enjoyable your future jobs would be!) that just seems like so much schooling. I dont know if i could do it. Also, what did you major in in undergrad? And I'd love to see some Timber rattler pics ^__^
Actually I have yet to find a college which offers a degree in herpetology here in the US (not sure where your from) Some schools offer classes in it, What you do is get a degree in biology or zoology or a related field (such as mine). Let me know if you have found anything contradictory to that. Right now I am a captive wildlife care and education major going for my bachelors in science, I’m in my sophomore year. A lot of herpetology comes from self conducted research and experience. Its very difficult to get experience but luckily my school requires internships so I am hoping to set off to a reptile zoo down south this summer. My interview is tomorrow :). Timber rattler post it is!
