Ringed Caecilian

  • Amphibian found in Northern South America
  • AKA the South American Caecilian
  • Forest-dwelling amphibian that lives in soil and resembles a large, thick, earthworm
  • dark blue body with white stripes and numerous rings
  • uses tentacles to pick up the odors of nearby prey
  • When attacked, it produces a distasteful secretion
  • Lays its eggs in the soil where they hatch into miniature adults
